Luego de que fueran anunciados los nominados a los Globos de Oro, y considerando la huelga, es una sorpresa que fueran anunciados a los Premios WGA (Writers Guild of America) para la 60 edición de los premios.

En esta lista de nominados se destacan varias series que generalmente no son nombradas en otras ceremonias, como Friday Night Lights y The Wire, que fueron nominadas como mejores series dramáticas junto a Dexter, Mad Men, y The Sopranos.

En la categoría de comedia, la extraña comedia Flight of the Conchords obtuvo su primer nominación importante en su primera temporada, y deberá competir frente a 30 Rock, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm y Entourage.

Estos premios también cuentan con una categoría para las series nuevas, con la nominada a los Globos de Oro, Damages liderando la manada frente a The Sarah Silverman Program, Pushing Daisies, Mad Men, y Flight of the Conchords.

Entre las cadenas las más destacadas fueron HBO con cinco nominaciones gracias a sus series y NBC, siendo la única cadena de aire en obtener nominaciones para sus series gracias a Friday Night Lights, 30 Rock y The Office.

Entre las series, la ganadora hasta el momento es The Office con cuatro nominaciones, seguida por la nueva serie de AMC, Mad Men, que obtuvo tres nominaciones incluyendo mejor serie dramática y mejor nueva serie.
